The crossbars of the Malone AirFlow2 roof rack part # MPG216 are compatible with basically all standard ski/snowboard carriers that are out currently. If you choose to mount some accessories from the T-Channel Mount Kit for Kuat Grip Ski and Snowboard Carrier # GRDMK, I strongly recommend that the grips that attach to the crossbars are still fully attached to the bars so that it will deter any shifting (or, even worse, the Kuat Grip Ski and Snowboard Carrier # GRR6G falling off the roof). If you are having trouble getting the carrier to shut around your equipment on the Rhino-Rack 6 Skis or 4 Boards Carrier # RR576, I recommend trying to shut it without any equipment in it. If you can get it shut without equipment, then you will want to check the placement of your equipment when it is on the rack and put the tallest equipment towards the non-hinged side of the carrier. Yakima's FatCat EVO 6 Ski and Snowboard Carrier, item # Y03096 use the same Yakima SKS lock cores which are shown on the linked page. These are intended to allow removal of the key when the lock is in the locked position.

I understand your concern about your Thule Hull-A-Port Kayak Carrier # TH834 coming loose from your vehicle roof rack crossbars but I cannot recommend using any alternate hardware (such as that from another Thule carrier).
What I suggest you do is apply a thread lock compound like Loctite # LT37643 to the hardware's threads. This should prevent the knobs from coming loose on their own but still allow you to remove the carrier if you wish.

Yes. Especially when empty, it's likely that there will be air getting through places on the Rhino Rack Ski Carrier # RR576 that might create a whistle while traveling. Adding a wind fairing like the # RRRF4 might help reduce some of the wind noise that you're experiencing, but I would suspect that some of it is coming from between the two arms on the ski carrier so you might just want to remove it when it's not in use. view full answer...
Before committing to changing the locks, you can first try spraying a lubricant like WD-40 or PB Blaster into the locks. If this frees them up, you'll just need a replacement key, part # THKEYN096. If that doesn't solve the problem, you'll need to replace the locks with part # THLOCKN096. In order to get a new replacement key you would need to get the lock core open from a lock smith. From there use your control key, which is # Y8007835 if you need a new one, to remove the lock core and you will be able to find the key number directly on the lock cylinder. I would try some lubricant like WD40 to clean the lock. Make sure to get the lubricant inside the lock. You can often slide the key in the keyhole to work the lubricate into the lock mechanism.
If you can't get it to work still you may need to replace the lock core. Replacement SKS Lock Cores can be ordered to match the same lock number you have.
